About Gustavo Stringel

Dr. Gustavo Stringel serves as surgeon-in-chief with the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center. He holds additional responsibilities with the medical institution as director of the minimally invasive surgery and pediatric surgery departments. As a part of the hospital’s leadership, Dr. Gustavo Stringel sits on the Executive Committee, which oversees the decisions and strategies that maintain the operation of the facility. In addition to his work at the hospital, he is a tenured professor in pediatrics and surgery at New York Medical College in Valhalla.

Dr. Gustavo Stringel completed his residency in general surgery through the Gallie Program at the University of Toronto. He then undertook a residency in pediatric surgery at the Hospital for Sick Children, also in Toronto. A respected researcher in his field, he has presented more than 100 papers at conferences throughout the world. He delivered the presidential address, “How to Make the Most of the Hours We Have Left,” to the annual meeting of the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons in 2010. Additionally, Dr. Gustavo Stringel has authored more than 80 journal articles and several chapters in textbooks.
